Art Classes for the Home Schooled Child

Our programming will be based curriculum that includes aesthetics and art criticism.

Session I: The Elements of Art
10-11:30 a.m.
Every other Wednesday beginning September 15 through December 8, 2010
Grades K-3 (Ages 5-8)

Every other Tuesday beginning September 14 through December 7, 2010
Grades 4-6 (Ages 9-12)

Each week we will explore one of the seven elements of art (line, shape, form, color, value, texture
and space). Each week will also feature a different artist, subject matter and medium. The subject
matter may include but not be limited to: animals, plants, the figure, portraits, landscape and still-
life. The approaches to making art will fall into the following categories: realistic, abstract and
non-objective. The media and areas of art explored may include but not be limited to: drawing,
painting, printmaking, sculpture (plaster), ceramics (clay), collage, fiberarts and metalworking.
Class size: Maximum of 6
Fee: $105.00 ($15.00 per class) plus a $25.00 supply fee= $130.00 per student
Session Ii: The Principles of design (Same basic format working with the seven principles
of design: balance, pattern, movement, rhythm, emphasis, contrast and unity).
